ALBUM REVIEW: YOUNG STATUES SELF TITLED LP

The New Jersey and Philadelphia band, Young Statues, were conceived in the winter of 2010 during a spontaneous trip to Athens, GA. The transformation of this record began at Chase Park Transduction Studios, where a group of friends recorded a series of songs, songs that, at first, were just for fun and never meant to be released. After hearing these recorded sessions, songwriter and vocalist Carmen Cirignano decided to persevere and finish working on them. It was at the Gradwell House in Haddon Heights, NJ with the help of; longtime producer and engineer Steve Poponi, bassist Tom Ryan and drummer Daniel Bogan, that these songs were transformed into this incredible debut record. The record came out November 8, via Run For Cover Records.

When their debut album, Old Pride, came in 2009 through Blackjaw Records it didn’t do well as they thought it would.  Subsequently, they signed to Topshelf Records in October 2009, and reissued Old Pride in January of 2010, making this version of Old Pride see a much wider release that was met with much acknowledgment. With one EP (Saltwater), two split EP’s (2009 split EP with Ezra Joyce) and (October 2010’s split EP with The Saddest Landscape), their debut album (Old Pride in 2009), out now via Topshelf Records here is their second full length album ‘The Lack Long After’. ALBUM REVIEW: THE TOWER AND THE FOOL "XIII"

When Alex Correia and Chris Rosenquest were going through some drastic and uncontrollable changes in their life they decide the best way to cope was to write music together. Originating from Providence, RI The Tower And The Fool initially started as a songwriting project between them, when the recording of their self-titled EP drew nearer they decided they should add additional musicians to fill out the recorded songs. That’s where drummer Mike Poorman (ex-Hot Rod Circuit), Jon Tucker on bass, Zac Clark on keys, and Chris Capaldi on lead and slide guitars come in, in October 2010 they released their first album. After everything was said and done, Correia and Rosenquest decided to permanently add the additional line up, making The Tower and The Fool a complete band. Being signed only back in July of this year; this is The Tower And The Fool’s debut EP on Run For Cover Records. The release will be limited to 7″ vinyl and digital formats.

ALBUM REVIEW: TOM WAITS “BAD AS ME”

Being released through Anti- Records on October 24, Bad As Me is Tom Waits’ first studio album of all new music in seven years. His songs are best-known through cover versions by more popular artists such as: Bruce Springsteen’s "Jersey Girl", and Rod Stewart "Downtown Train”. Waits’ incorporation of pre-rock music styles such as blues and jazz combined with his trademark growl (and his spits, stutters and howls) definitely allow for him to be very distinctive and have a one of a kind sound.
