SPRING-SPIRATION (ENGLAND)

It’s a strange time of year for fashion, although the high street and catwalks have been teasing us all with gorgeous spring and summer pieces the weather is still as grim as ever in the U.K.

Sunshine seems so far away, so why not indulge in a little sunshine for your wardrobe? Every spring season, floral’s burst onto the high street straight from the catwalks. With fashion shows in New York, Paris and London previously featuring this blooming trend, this season it’s time for some serious flower power.

With high street stores picking the best from the catwalks favourites, Dior, D&G and Chanel for floral inspiration, this spring’s gorgeous floral trends are planting some fashion seeds of their own. Forget bold and brash patterns from the 70’s and 80’s, these floral trends are elegant and add a new take on the floral trend.

With floral fashion, it’s all about keeping it fresh. As it is not quite summer yet, there are many options of the fresh new take on this trend. If you’ve already invested in some of the seasons 70’s staples, why not add in a few key floral pieces which you can work into your already existing wardrobe. From tops to skirts and even shoes floral patterns is the perfect way to spread a little bit of sunshine in your wardrobe.

This gorgeous kimono inspired piece from Topshop is the perfect piece to add into any fashionista’s wardrobe, it can literally be worn with anything. Teamed with a pair of trophy shorts in one of the key colours of the season orange, play around with textures too there are a lot of leather and suede shorts around on the high street right now like the pair featured from Topshop. To give a new take on the spring trend I think a pair of gorgeous leather boots like this pair from Chloe, will add a bit of edge. It’s not quite the season for sandals and these boots will carry you through right to festival season.

For a brighter feel to the floral look, why not swap your usual denim jeans for a much softer coloured denim. If you’re feeling brave go for a bright block colour in a yellow or if not this pair from ASOS are perfect. Adding an over sized shirt is a perfect day or night look, with a gorgeous simple floral pattern it will give you a really pretty feminine look. Flower patterns don’t have to be over sized and in your face, just like this Topshop large shirt shows. Add a pair of chunky platform wedges in a neutral colour for a real fresh day time or evening look.

Fancy something a bit different to add a little sunshine to your wardrobe, why not try some paper bag waisted shorts? This new take on the high waisted is a key trend for this season and with many designers featuring gorgeous floral patterns on the shorts, it’s a double whammy of style. Keeping the shorts as the main focus, add a plain vest top or any type of top you choose really play around with different dark coloured styles. If you’re lucky enough to have kept hold of your old trusted biker inspired jacket from last winter then you’re already a head of the trend, as bikers are back. Adding the biker leather jacket will give this outfit a sexy feel and adding in some super high platforms will finish it off perfectly. Brave this look out in the day or set spring on fire with this hot look at night.

70’s inspired looks are big this season and a floral playsuit ticks all the boxes for aspiring fashionista’s. This beautiful example from Topshop features the one sleeved, waterfall detailing nostalgic of the 70’s. Worn with block black tights will really let the playsuit do the talking, or if you’re brave enough to go bare why not.

Add simple black accessories, an oversized clutch bag will be in keeping with the 70’s feel and of course this look would not be complete without a wedge. Try in a bold colour, such as the gorgeous pair featured from Topshop also available in black if you want to keep the styling simple.

If you really want to explore some bright colours you can pick up a lovely tea dress from almost anywhere on the high street or online. If it’s too cold to wear bare legs, adding a thick pair of plain black tights will look gorgeous. Adding a pair of simple brogue inspired shoes such as this pair from Topshop will continue this bright spring vibe. Choose shoes in brown or cream to keep with the bright spring inspired look, add an over sized vintage inspired bag to bring out the colours of the floral patterns in the dress. If you’re feeling adventurous why not play around with some oversized hats to complete the look or add a cute flower hair accessory.  Whichever floral inspired key piece you decide will work best for your wardrobe, feel inspired to start a mini garden inside your wardrobe this spring.
