Embarking on a month long tour jam-packed with high energy and incredibly talented acts, the boys in Yellowcard, Good Charlotte, and Runner Runner have proved that this summer tour is one that should not be missed. The tour began in San Diego, CA on Friday and makes its way to Florida with pit stops in several big cities throughout the month of June. Last night, the tour set out at the Fox Theater in Pomona, CA. With a line wrapped around the building nearly two hours before doors were set to open, it was clear that the lineup composed on this tour is one that many do not want to miss. Who can blame them, really? By combining two bands that brought music into the lives of many at an early age with a modern band that creates the perfect balance between the two, attending a show on this tour is guaranteed to be a night you will never forget. Though there are not many stops on the tour, the trek to the nearest location is definitely well worth the overwhelming gas prices and at times stand still traffic.
Good Charlotte has definitely made a name for themselves in their sixteen years of being a band. Since the release of their latest full-length album titledCardiology, the boys hit the stage for a headlining tour to support the release. With support from This Century and San Jose local band The Relay Company, as original opening band Forever the Sickest Kids were unable to make the show, it was obvious from the start that this live show would be an experience that nobody would ever forget. With a headlining band that fans of all ages could thoroughly enjoy paired with opening bands that created an environment that ultimately lead into crowd members becoming fans, the Cardiology Tour was the best combination of live performances that a lot of those in the audience had ever seen. The Glamour Kills Tour took a different route with a band list that leads more towards the pop genre than the usual pop/punk that is found on the tour. BandsYou, Me, & Everyone We Know, We Are The In Crowd, The Downtown Fiction, Allstar Weekend, and The Ready Set are all featured on this month and a half long tour that is sure to impress you in one way or another. While most people who read the band listing were bummed at the direction GK was taking, those who give the tour a chance will soon find that it is a step that was very successful in every way. The bands are each extremely talented in their own unique way, bringing along a fan base to each show which ultimately leads to transforming them into a fan of the other bands on the tour as well. After a huge gain of loyal fans through the three well known tours Bamboozle, AP Tour, and Warped Tour, The Summer Set took opening bands The Downtown Fiction, ModSun, and Stereo Skyline out on a headlining endeavor that they called “The Travelin’ Show”. The tour began on October 18th and ended recently after over a month of stupendous shows. With the goal of creating an intimate show that fans will create a stronger connection between band members of fans in mind, The Summer Set took on a very successful headlining tour. Although the tour is now over, it was an incredible event and I encourage you to see each act that was a part of it. Austin Gibbs was unfortunately ill during the date of the tour I attended, however I have heard nothing but excellent reviews about his performance as well.
Making a grand entrance to the all time favorite "Pump It" by the Black Eyed Peas, The Downtown Fiction showed a crowd of unfamiliar faces that they were there to put on an awesome show from the very start. all around the gymnasium warmed up with their hands in the air during their entire set. With lead singer Cameron Leahy providing an insane stage presence filled with countless eye locks and hand holds to ensure that each fan in the audience was having an awesome time, it was nearly impossible to be less than ecstatic to watch this talented rock/pop band put on an outstanding performance. Effortlessly taking control of a crowd containing very few people who had heard of them previously, The Downtown Fiction did an excellent job of making sure to put on a flawless performance in order to suck in as many new fans as possible. Even with a few technical difficulties towards the end of their set, bassist David Pavluk was unphased as he nonchellantly communicated with those invoved in the difficulties to ensure that the problem would be fixed when it was time to proceed into the next song. After an outstanding set filled with nonstop dancing and fan girl shrieking, The Downtown Fiction ended with a song that everyone in the crowd seemed to know. This track is "I Just Wanna Run" and it was made very clear that it was the favorite from the crowd by the way they sang to every word as an instant reaction. Dancing around harder than before, because they clearly knew the song very well, left and right the crowd was going absolutely insane for this band that they had once been fooled to believe they had ever heard before. The Downtown Fiction put on a powerful performance that proved they are a force to be reckoned with when it comes to their genre in the music scene.
Since releasing their third full length album under the Photo Finish record label titled “Streets of Gold” in late June, 3OH!3 has kept busy by traveling across the United States and Canada on a headlining tour with Down With Webster and HelloGoodbye, which started on October 14th and recently concluded on November 24th. With the huge success of their previous album “Want” under their belts, members Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte take the stage night after night to prove to fans all around how much of a good time they can put on once they hit the stage. They did just this, night after night.
After taking on the three month long tour with almost unbearable weather and thousands of people that we all love so much, being Warped Tour, Hey Monday headed out on a headlining tour on October 20th with Cartel, The Ready Set, This Century and We Are The In Crowd. This Fall Tour 2010 is jam packed with excellent bands that put on the performance of a life time night after night. Although they share a similar sound, they all manage to put their own twist to the genre, making each band strong in its own way. The tour is now near over, but the performances are stronger than ever. I got an opportunity to attend this show on Friday and my mind was blown. If you live in Texas or Florida, I highly recommend seeing this show!
