Tongariro National Park

Tongariro National Park is one of the most beautiful parks I've ever seen. Tongariro National Park is located in the central North Island of New Zealand. It is the closest national park to Auckland, New Zealands largest city. The landscape is very rough & volcanic like. The park is very famous in New Zealand, & really everywhere. The movie "The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy" had some filming there. There is a famous 19km hike through its center called the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. It has goregous views, and also very peaceful. 

This park was established in 1887, Tongariro was the 1st national park in New Zealand and the fourth in the world. For an historic perspective, you can view a National Film Unit short film made in 1951 about the park at NZ on Screen. 

Its a place for surprises. Nothing is predictable there. Its a place to explore. From fields to forests, from lakes to desert plateau's and active volcanoes, Tongariro has it all.
